Dr. Jorge @ Amigos Health
Welcome / Bienvenido Amigos!
It’s been a long time coming, and I’m excited to announce that I’ve started my own practice - Amigos Health - in Oregon!
It has been some time since I’ve communicated or updated anyone. I was left trying to figure out my next steps back in April after the clinic I worked at abruptly closed. I was working towards setting up a new clinic in Portland with a colleague, but things just were not working out. Therefore, I took some time to think about what is next. Starting something new, something from the ground up with very little resources is stressful, frustrating, and hopeful! Yes, hopeful because this is a passion project and new practice that I’m excited to create to reach a demographic that often doesn’t get access to naturopathic functional medicine.
About Amigos Health
Amigos Health was created from my passion to reach our Hispanic community and provide them naturopathic medical care, hence the name “Amigos”. The word Amigos in Spanish translates to Friends. My hope for this new practice is to foster genuine friendships that is centered around the health and well-being of our amigos.
If you’re in Oregon, and interested in becoming a patient, schedule a free Discovery Visit. For the time being, all visits will be telehealth visits.

Wellness Tip
Practice Gratitude
There are several benefits from practicing gratitude or being grateful for things in your life. The research shows that it can:
Reduce Depression - research shows that people who experience more gratitude have less depression.
Decrease Anxiety - it is believed that experiencing gratitude helps block negative thinking patterns, and bring you back to the present moment.
Reduced stress - gratitude helps reset the nervous system, increasing the parasympathetic tone. This helps decrease the adrenaline spike induced by stress and puts in a calmer state.
Improve Sleep - With reduced stress and anxiety, sleep quality improves.
Improved heart health - practicing or experiencing gratitude has been found to decrease blood pressure, and affect biomarkers related to heart health.
Ways to practice gratitude
Journal - writing down 3 things you are grateful for in a journal on a daily basis. This is used by a few high performers.
Meditate - meditating on things you are grateful for, or redirecting your mind to positive thoughts.
Pray - if religious, cultivate a prayer of gratitude.
Appreciation - take time to appreciate and give thanks things that bring you value or meaning.
Say Thanks - you can mentally say thanks to someone. No need to write or speak it.
Personally, throughout this process, I would go out to the creek near my home and either journal or take time to appreciate the nature around us.
I hope this is helpful, and if so, please forward this email to someone who may benefit.
